Chapter 10: Carry On (California, U.S.)
of course, a chapter in music history and future must be about Carry On: The band formed in 1996 in California and officially ended as an active band the year of 2005. Members then went on to bands such as: Betrayed, Internal Affairs, Go It Alone, Terror and Snake Eyes.
For me personally Carry On represent transition from melodic to more mosh-elements and breakdowns, in-your-face and aggressive hardcore. With the album "A life less plagued", released on Bridge Nine in 2001, Carry On is destined to belong to a group of immortal band that continuously is lifted from peoples memories and Carry On is an active reference of bands of today and tomorrow. By mixing the straight-forward, in-your-face, fast hardcore accompanied with positive lyrics their East Coast hardcore Influenced music became something to dance hard to. It is worth mentioning that the album includes guest appearances from Wes of Give Up The Ghost / American Nightmare & Sweet Pete of In My Eyes.
The band started in 1996, under the name Persevere with the changed name in connection with their debut 7 released in 1998: “Stabbed in the face ". All the members except lead singer Ryan George, ended and was replaced between 98 and 00. They moved on and played in great bands such as Internal Affairs, Piece By Piece, Stand Your Ground, the First Step, Terror, Stand & Fight, etc.
In 2009 React Records with Aram Arslanian (Champion, the First Step, Betrayed ...) decided to re-release the band's total materials from the "Roll with the punches" and "The Line is drawn", two Eps. This, together with songs from the collection "Memories of tomorrow hardcore". Just such a thing to press 1.500 copies of vinyl 4 years after the band disbanded should say something about the Carry On and their deep marks in hardcore?
Yours truly never got the opportunity to see them live, although their last two gigs were announced on July 1st and 2nd, 2005 at the Showcase Theatre, located in Corona, California. Something I will regret for sure... But I may watch their live clips instead. Lame, I know.
